A complimentary replacement offer does not identify which old cable will fit
An offer described as a hardware replacement can be real even if the owner has not noticed a symptom, but another customer cannot diagnose the reason from the offer alone. Verify it inside the signed-in Starlink account or support conversation before following an email link.
Before accepting an installation plan, identify the exact existing terminal, router, replacement kit and cable. “Two years old” and “V5” do not provide enough detail to guarantee that the old cable, power arrangement or connector will work. Starlink’s hardware support provides model-specific installation and accessory guides.
For a cable buried in conduit, ask support to confirm the supplied cable and connector dimensions, whether the current cable is explicitly supported, and the return deadline for the old hardware. Keep the old working setup intact until the replacement can be connected and verified, subject to the actual return instructions.
The useful question for support is: “Can you confirm compatibility for these exact models and whether the replacement requires changing the cable through my conduit?” That avoids treating a peer’s successful swap with different hardware as a guarantee.
