Short answer: The motorized dishes have a stow procedure. Standard and Mini use a folding kickstand instead. Start by identifying the dish; do not force a mast to move.
Motorized dishes
For Standard Circular, Standard Actuated and Performance Gen 1, Starlink documents Settings → Starlink → Stow Starlink in the app. Let the mechanism complete its movement before packing.
If the app cannot connect, use the manufacturer’s manual-stow procedure linked below. It describes a powered, face-down positioning sequence for the relevant motorized models. Read it for your exact equipment before handling the dish.
Fixed dishes
For Standard or Mini, fold the kickstand underneath. Other fixed Performance models do not require a motorized stow operation.
Packing checklist
Our suggested routine is to photograph the cable arrangement before disconnecting, protect connectors from dirt and pressure, and check the mount’s removal instructions. Keep the cable from being trapped by the stand or case.
If a unit being returned will not stow, Starlink’s instructions allow a larger return box; forcing the mechanism is not the solution.
